Are we expected to feed out nanny?

We just hired a live out nanny to care for our children. We want to know if we are expected to provide her with breakfast lunch and snacks? Or should she bring her own food? I know we should have talked about this, but what is the norm?

Well if she is going to be at your house all day watching your children then yes you should provide or with food. I use to be a nanny for a family and they provided me with lunch and a snack since I was watching there children all day.

Families and Nannies go either way on this. It is a nice perk to not have to pack lunch, but she may want certain items that you don't have or want to buy.

Just talk to her about it and ask if she has any preferences about it. You could ask her to just bring her own snacks and you would provide the "meals".

The other thing to consider is, if you love to have a turkey sandwich everyday... ask her not to eat your sliced turkey. Or whatever that might apply to.

Reply:As long as it is something that she is preparing for the children. It would be kind of weird for her to brown bag if she is fixing them lunch and sitting down with them. Breakfast should probably be taken care before she comes to work and snacks, she should probably bring her own.
